Lemley Gets Local Business Community up-to-speed on Branding
The Belltown Business Association invited me to speak about business branding to their group. Cooper Mills, one of the lovely folks with El Gaucho, belongs to the association. He asked me to share with them some of the truths we are seeing in the world of branding as of 2008.
From the announcement…
“Branding and design have become key business objectives for those companies that need to stand out from the mass of undifferentiated competitive offerings. Businesses can prosper in any economy if they are well positioned to deliver on their promised brand experience.”
I made the commitment early spring and as sometime happens my schedule got jammed. I was with our friends at Sears Holdings right until I had to bust a move to get back to Seattle in time. The lecture generated good dialogue with the crowd, a mix of local and regional execs from all different sizes of business. I love it when people’s light bulbs screw in all the way and their heads light up. It had been a while since I was physically close enough to the crowd to see that happening with certainty.
